Good to be home 🙂

Touchdown Amsterdam!

16 May

Back in Amsterdam after 3 years China and almost 3 months of traveling. It has been a great and unforgettable experience. Thank you Dutch friends and family for ‘sticking’ with us, visiting and following us on this blog. Thank you ‘all-over-the world’ Beijing friends for making our China time so special. We will never forget. Hope to see or visit you again. Out of sight but in our hearts!

Sweden, Stockholm downtown

Lucky with the weather!

Funpark & walk in between rainfal.

Sun, sun, sun, the next day. Hop on, hop off the next day on a boat, visiting some nice spots along the way.

Vasa museum revisited. Luuk didn’t remember it from when he was 1 year old 🙂

Vasa (or Wasa)[1] is a Swedish warshipbuilt between 1626 and 1628. The ship foundered and sank after sailing about 1,300 m (1,400 yd) into her maiden voyage on 10 August 1628. She fell into obscurity after most of her valuablebronze cannons were salvaged in the 17th century until she was located again in the late 1950s in a busy shipping lane just outside the Stockholm harbor. Salvaged with a largely intact hull in 1961, she was housed in a temporary museum called Wasavarvet (“The Wasa Shipyard”) until 1988 and then moved to the Vasa Museum in Stockholm.

Great museum!

Sweden, Stockholm at C&M’s

11 May

Stroll in our friends ‘backyard’, the land they share with the other house-owners.

Lobster, crayfish & salmon party on the deck (beef for me 🙂 ) with the neighbors, who were so friendly to have us stay over in their cabin. Carl had to remove his because it was too big :-(.

Learnt some interesting Swedish & Finnish songs that evening…still waiting for the translation.

Sweden, Stockholm

11 May

Happy to meet up again with Beijing friends Carl, Marie, Sven & Lisa.

Staying at their house near Stockholm, beautiful spot, great sunset over the Baltic sea with drinks on the deck in the (fake) ruine. Build there by a former landowner.

Spain, Madrid: The bull wins!

Spain, Madrid

7 May

Really nice day for a stroll in Madrid. Chilly in the shadow but comfortably warm in the sun, spring is here! What a treat after Asia’s blistering heat.

Changing of the guards at royal palace.

Tapas al fresco, yummy & vino tinto.

Walking the old little streets.

Visiting Trix’ favourite museum  in the impressionist painter Sorollo’s former house.

Back at Trix & Walter’s Luuk and Ties jumping in a very cold pool 🙂

Yummy BBQ in the evening sun…
